What You Need to Know

Statistics point to the fact that millions of women and men experience some type of hair loss and 1 in 4 women suffer from come type of hair loss or thinning.  Hair loss or alopecia can be caused by genetics, hormones, hassle(stress), hunger(diet) hairdressing practices, medications and general health.

Here are some types and causes of Alopecia:

​Androgen Alopecia 

Also known as genetic hair loss, this condition affects both men and women and is passed down through family genes. Treatment options include minoxidil, and low-level laser therapy.

Alopecia Areata

An autoimmune disorder where the body attacks healthy hair follicles, leading to smooth, round patches of hair loss. Triggers may include stress, infections, or allergic responses.

CCCA

This form of permanent hair loss involves follicle destruction caused by harsh chemicals, burns, or scalp trauma. Since regrowth is unlikely, wigs or hair toppers are often the best option.

Telogen Effluvium 

A temporary, non-scarring type of hair loss characterized by diffuse shedding across the scalp. Often triggered by hormonal shifts, illness, or sudden changes in diet or lifestyle.
